WOW! Performance Spring 2012

The H.E.A.R.T. Martial Arts class and Citizen Schools students put together another amazing WOW! for all the parents and students to enjoy at the Newark Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School.

The WOW! showcased the students' various volunteer accomplishments over the course of the 2012 Spring semester. Among their many volunteer objectives the students did a great job creating handmade toys for the animals at the Jersey Animal Coalition. In addition to the animal shelter work our students helped to feed the hungry by making sandwiches and snack packs for the Saint Andrew's Church Food Pantry/Soup Kitchen.

Sandwiches for the Hungry

The H.E.A.R.T. Martial Arts class and Citizen Schools students worked hard putting together lunch for all the hungry people that come to Saint Andrew's Church each Friday afternoon.

The students and staff were fast at work fixing up 100 ham and cheese sandwiches to accompany the granola bars and Twizzlers. We hope it went a long ways towards helping all the hungry people at the food pantry/soup kitchen. Father Roberts, from Saint Andrew's Church, came to the MLK School to pick up all the food and personally thank everyone for all their hard work.

Many thanks to all of the Citizen Schools Staff members, Dr. Wilson and the MLK Kitchen Staff for opening early.
